James Thomas Kenny
Waterloo - James Thomas Kenny, 90, of Hecker Rd., died Wednesday (December 19, 2012) at Geneva General Hospital.
Friends may call on Wednesday (Dec. 26) from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. Military Rights will be Wednesday (Dec. 26) at 10:45 a.m. by members of American Legion, Warner Van Riper 435 and Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 26) at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. 29 W. Elisha St., Waterloo, 13165.
James was born June 24, 1922 in Geneva, the son of James and Grace Brownell Kenny. He attended school at St. Mary's in Waterloo. He was trained as a medical technician by the military in Hot Spring ARK. He was a WWII veteran, having served as a field medic with the rank of staff Sergeant. He received theater Ribbons for America, the Asiatic and the Philippines. He received two bronze stars, and a victory ribbon.
Jim enjoyed camping, stock car racing, and dancing to country western music. He was totally committed to his family and their needs. He and his wife were recognized for their 38 years of service to Seneca County by taking in youth that needed a place to live during extremely difficult times.
He is survived by three sons: James (Doris) Kenny of Clifton Springs, John (Paula) Kenny of Waterloo, Robert "Bill" Kenny of Waterloo, two daughters: Carol Ann (Stephen) Brownell of Mexico, Christine (Joseph) Dressing-Solomon of Waterloo, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one sister: Barbara Ann Carey of Jacksonville Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of over fifty years: Marguerite Rose Kenny who passed away in 1996.
