I have spent the last few days reflecting on my time with one of the best men I have ever known. My grandfather was always kind to me and never had a negative thing to say. One thing that still makes me laugh is when I think about our trips grocery shopping. Grandpa would make us start at TOPS hill in Geneva and work our way to Waterloo so he could get all the deals. I think we spent more in gas than we saved, but it was the time with him that I valued most. Grandma used to let me sit on her lap and steer the car when we would go pick up grandpa at Northrup's - grandpa wasn't so brave, and always insisted on taking over. He shared with me his enthusiasm for playing the organ, and when I moved in with him for a spell, I would wake up at all hours of the morning hearing him play downstairs. He was a very generous man, and I cannot begin to tell everyone how he enriched my life every day.
