Obituary of John Edward O'Connors

WATERLOO — John "Jack" Edward O'Connors, 67, passed away unexpectedly Monday (December 4, 2023) at Geneva General Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Family and friends may call 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (December 10), at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main. St., Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday (December 11), at the funeral home. Rev. David Spencer, pastor of Seneca Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be 12 p.m. Monday (December 11), in NYS Veterans Cemetery - Finger Lakes, 6632 NY-96A, Varick, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hometown Hero Banner Program. Checks may be made out to Sa-Go-Ye-Wat-Ha Chapter, NSDAR and mailed to Karen O'Brien, 2099 Mills Rd., Waterloo, N.Y. 13165.
Jack was born January 7, 1956 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Harold Burton and Elsie Crystal Kepler O'Connors. He was a 1974 graduate of Waterloo Central High School. He received his AOS of Paralegal Studies at Bryant and Stranton College. Jack was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving from 1974 to 1979 and 1982 to 1994. After retirement from the US Air Force, he worked in various businesses before joining the Seneca County Veterans Administration, where he became the Director of the Veterans Administration Office, retiring in 2018. Even after this retirement, he continued to assist veterans through various programs.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cheri Ann O'Connors; daughter Sheena (Joel) Hodges of Jacksonville, Fla.; son Kyle (Valerie) O'Connors of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Raegan O'Connors, Ethan O'Connors, Alice Hodges, and Jack Hodges; brother Charles (Larissa) O'Connors of San Antonio, TX; uncle Jack O'Connor of Waterloo, N.Y.; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents.
