Margaret was born July 2, 1925, in Milden Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Bert and Bessie Lash Edgett of Waterloo. During the depression the family returned to Waterloo. When Margaret was 17 years old her mother passed away suddenly. During World War II she attended and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1943. She worked at Edgett's Ice Cream Store on Main Street until 1948 when she married her High School sweetheart, Edward Velte Jr., and embarked on a life of a railroad wife and dedicated loving mother. The family moved eight times about the midwest, living in various cities in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. In 1968, they finally settled in Exton, PA on the mainline near Philadelphia. She was a longtime member of the Woman's Community/Garden Club of Uwchlan where she enjoyed many friendships. She cherished spending summers at the family cottage at Elm Beach on Cayuga Lake. After retirement she and Ed spent their entire summers there.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Margaret) Velte of Kirkland, WA and Timothy Velte of Exton, PA; four grandchildren, Alexander, Tyler, Ashlyn, and Austin; a great-grandson, Theodore; one niece, two nephews, and many grand-nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Edward L. Velte, Jr.; and sisters, Ruth Lohr and Elsie Baker, both of Waterloo, NY and three nieces.
