Obituary of Stephanie Kay Velte

WATERLOO – Stephanie K. Velte, 31, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday (September 25, 2022) at Seneca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo, NY. Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday (October 3) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, NY. The memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Happiness House, 731 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, NY, 14456. However, the family would appreciate flowers, as Stephanie was unable to fully enjoy them in life. Stephanie was born May 20, 1991, in Geneva, NY, the daughter of James B. and Sharon A. DeBryne Velte. Stephanie attended Happiness House from the age of nine months to four years. She went on to graduate from the Phelps-Clifton Springs BOCES program. Stephanie was known for her smile, laugh, and big heart. She enjoyed swimming and playing in the water, loud music with a good bass and fast rhythm, car rides with her family, and sweet potatoes. Steph could always be found zipping through the care facility in her wheelchair, making new friends. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will remain a gift to all who knew her. She is survived by her parents James and Sharon; sister and brother-in-law Marcy Velte and John Purcell of Schenectady, NY; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Stephanie is predeceased by paternal grandparents, Roland and Elizabeth Velte; and maternal grandparents Stanley (Poppy) and Joan (Nonny) Dingman.
