Obituary of Melissa Marie Sutterby

TYRE/SENECA FALLS – Melissa M. Sutterby, 51, passed away Sunday (June 5, 2022) at Strong Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday (June 25) at the Fayette Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1455 Aunkst Road, Waterloo, NY.
Bishop Gennaro Frazio, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. A celebration of life will follow at the home of Aimee and Jason Garrett, 1236 Black Brook Road., Seneca Falls, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Community Christmas Project, in care of Coreen Lowry, 2959 Cherokee Lane, Waterloo, NY, 13165 or Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Melissa was born February 19, 1971, in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of the late Donald D. and Cynthia A. Bickel Herman. She was a 1989 graduate of South Seneca High School. Melissa was a hairdresser for a few years for a hair salon in Ovid and then in Ithaca. Leaving her career in hairdressing, she was employed, for one year, with Time Warner Cable working in the billing department. She was then employed at Geneva General Hospital working in the billing department. After the birth of her son, she was a "stay at home mom", until he went to school. With Logan in school, Melissa became a substitute teacher. She continued to substitute teach until the progression of her multiple sclerosis. She was a member of the Fayette Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Melissa loved her family and her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth A. Sutterby; son Logan at home; brother Donald D. Herman, III of Louisiana; sister Aimee (Jason) Garrett of Seneca Falls, NY; nieces Ashley McNabb and Felicia Finch; and nephews Jeffery Herman and Joshua Herman; aunts, uncles and cousins.
