Obituary of Alan Wayne Avery

FAYETTE – Alan W. Avery, 69, of Fayette, NY, passed away at his home Thursday (January 20, 2022). In keeping with the wishes of the family, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion, 1 E. Williams St., Waterloo, NY, 13165, Finger Lakes Community Church, 5 Sullivan Dr., Seneca Falls, NY, 13148, or the organization of one's choice. Alan was born July 21, 1952, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Fred G. and Helen M. Bruce Avery. He was a 1971 graduate of Waterloo Central School District. Alan was a U. S. Navy veteran serving from 1972 to 1978. He was employed with the NYS Department of Corrections in the transportation and maintenance departments. During his retirement, he was employed as bus driver with Seneca ARC. He was a member of Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion. Alan attended Finger Lakes Community Church in Waterloo, NY. He is survived by brothers Bruce (Rosemary) Avery of Rochester, NY and John (Amy Westfall) Avery, of Waterloo, NY; one niece and four nephews; and a special companion Kay Baker of Lyons, NY.
