SENECA FALLS – Linda Schavemaker, 82, of Seneca Falls, NY, passed away peacefully, Wednesday (December 29, 2021) at Living Center at Geneva – North. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday (January 3) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (January 4) at First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY. Rev. Anita Milne, pastor of the church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Fayette Rural Cemetery, Fayette, NY. Those attending calling hours MUST wear face masks and enter the funeral home through the parking lot doors and exit the funeral home through the Main St. doors. Those attending the funeral service MUST wear face masks in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY, 13165 or Seneca County House of Concern, 22 Locust St., Waterloo, NY, 13165. Linda was born March 14, 1939, in Easton, PA, the daughter of George Burton and Marion F. Johnson Hofschild. Linda was a wonderful wife and mother focusing her life on raising her children, gardening, and taking care of her home until she began her career as a bus driver in 1974, retiring in 2009. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo and a former member of Forks United Church of Christ in Stockertown, PA. Linda was a member of Wm. Parsons OES Chapter 185, in Easton, PA. She was a longtime member of TOPS in Easton, PA and also a member of TOPS Chapter 801 in Seneca Falls. When Linda was younger, she enjoyed her flower gardens. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Linda enjoyed crocheting most of her adult life perfecting her craft and in later years she would sell many dish towels and scrubbies to the people who love them. As well as passing down the gift of crocheting and sewing to her daughters and granddaughters. She is survived by her children Cheryl (Thomas) Poormon of Seneca Falls, NY, Susan Derr of Seneca Falls, NY, Joann (James) Reasoner of Phillipsburg, NJ, and John (Crystal) Schavemaker of Auburn, NY; grandchildren Tom (Katie) Poormon, Ginger Poormon, Nicole Poormon, Adelia (Matthew) Despaw, Kaylee Poormon, Megan (Brian) Alnutt, Kaitlynn (Blaise) Strausser, Christopher Reasoner, Corissa (Karl) Obed, Tyler (Amy) Schavemaker, and Alexandra Schavemaker; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Doris Tarlowski, Shirley Wilson, and Verna Bolte all of Easton, PA; special companion John Jahna of Waterloo, NY; many nieces and nephews.
