WATERLOO – Donald R. Eichenhofer, 80, of Waterloo, NY, passed Friday (October 1, 2021) at Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan, NY.
Family and friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday (October 7) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday (October 8) at First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY. Rev. James Adams, rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Geneva, will officiate. Burial will be 11 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. Military rites will be by members of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, VFW and Warner Van Riper Post 435, American Legion.

Don was born December 16, 1940, in Utica, NY, the son of Henry C. and Louise E. Schlager Eichenhofer. He graduated from Utica Free Academy. Don graduated 1963 from Moravian College in Pennsylvania with his Bachelor's degree in History. Don then went to Syracuse University to earn his Master's degree in History. He taught at Boonville Middle School. Don then served in the U.S. Army from 1966 – 1968, in Vietnam. Returning from the service Don went to Syracuse University to earn his second Master's degree in Library Science. He was a librarian at Eisenhower College until the college closed. After the closing of the college, Don was a librarian at North Rose-Wolcott Middle School. He was an active member of the community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Margaret J. Eichenhofer of Waterloo, NY; sons David (Shannon) Eichenhofer of Penn Yan, NY and James Eichenhofer of Metairie, LA; grandchildren Emma and Rhys Eichenhofer; brother Henry (Nancy) Eichenhofer of Poughkeepsie, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
