Obituary of Nancy Jean Rooney

WATERLOO – Nancy J. Rooney, 75, of Waterloo, NY died peacefully Saturday (January 23, 2021) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY. Family and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday (January 28) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas Gleason, pastor of Waterloo United Methodist Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. All attending calling hours and the funeral service MUST wear face masks and social distance. All MUST enter the funeral home through the parking lot doors and exit the funeral home using the Main St. doors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Pathway Home, 1529 State Route 414, Seneca Falls, NY, 13148. Nancy was born September 11, 1945, in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of George T. and Bernice H. Sloan Rooney. She was a 1965 graduate of Waterloo High School. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Waterloo. She was employed as a newspaper carrier for 26 years with the Finger Lakes Times. She also was an Avon Products Sales Rep. Nancy was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church and church choir. She participated in the Seneca County Senior Follies. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed working with ceramics. Many will remember her for riding her bicycle around the village of Waterloo. She is survived by two nephews; many cousins; special friends the Nadeau family; and her Waterloo United Methodist Church family. Nancy was predeceased by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Norma C. and Trougott Thillman; aunts Dorothy Cring, Edna Ross, and Jean McGhan; uncles, Ralph Sloan, Seward Sloan, Kenneth Sloan and Donald Sloan.
