Obituary of Carol MacNeal

WATERLOO – Carol MacNeal, 78, of Waterloo, NY, she passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side, Saturday (January 16, 2021). In keeping with Carol's wishes there will be no calling hours. The Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday (January 23) at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to House of Concern, 35 State St., Seneca Falls, NY, 13148 or ALS Association Upstate New York Chapter, 135 Old Cove Rd., Suite 213, Liverpool, NY, 13090. Carol was born August 26, 1942, in Shamokin, PA, the daughter of Addison E. and Louise A. Paul Schlagel. She was a 1960 graduate of Coal Township Public School. Carol earned in Bachelor's Degree in Education graduating in 1964 from Bloomsburg State College, Bloomsburg, PA. She began teaching in 1964 in the Waterloo Central School District, teaching third, fourth, fifth grades and Special Education, retiring in 2000. During her tenure she taught in the Main Street, Skoi-Yase, and Lafayette schools in the Waterloo Central School District. She was a very active volunteer for North Seneca Ambulance for many years. She is survived by her daughter Stacey (Joseph Gothie) MacNeal of York, PA; son Douglas MacNeal of Schenectady, NY; grandchildren Duncan Gothie, Gwendolyn Gothie, and Keiler MacNeal; sisters Bonnie Hironimus of Smyrna, DE and Sharon Deklinski of Ranshaw, PA; two nieces and one nephew; special partner Lauren Jones of Waterloo, NY; Carol was predeceased by her parents.
