Waterloo/Seneca Falls - Michael Leroy Poormon, 65, of 2889 Bauer Rd., died Thursday (June 6, 2013) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday (June 10) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (June 11) at the funeral home. Rev. Karen Heit, pastor of Rose United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fayette Rural Cemetery in Fayette.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo Sportsmen's Club, P.O. Box 269, Waterloo, 13165 or Fayette Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 21, Fayette, 13065.
Michael was born Sept. 25, 1947 in Seneca Falls, the son of Leroy J. and June E. McMillen Poormon. He was a 1965 graduate of Waterloo High School. After graduating he traveled to Europe for three weeks on a People to People Tour. He was a lifelong farmer in the towns of Seneca Falls and Fayette. He was a life member of the Waterloo Sportsmen's Club. He was a member of Seneca County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the NY Pork Producers for several years. Michael enjoyed watching RFD and Nascar Racing on TV. He also enjoyed going to fairs and auctions throughout NY State and beyond. In 1979 he was awarded the New York Pork All-American at the American Pork Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Arlene Gulick Poormon; daughters: Heather (Brad) Queor of Seneca Falls and Collen Poormon of Henrietta; Robert (Denise) Poormon of Waterloo; grandchildren: Kristofer, Hanna, Rylan, Roy, Danielle, Danika, DJ, and Renee; sisters: Patricia (LeRoy) Yates of N. Rose and Ellen TenEyck of Waterloo; sisters-in-law: Laurie Bushey of Ontario and Helen (Vern) Pratt of N. Rose; brother-in-law: Frankie (Dee) Gulick of Williamson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, June E. Poormon who died June 6, 2012 and brothers-in-law: Erwin TenEyck and Wilbur Bushey and sister-in-law: Ester Bussey.
