Obituary of Robert Lee Bates

Waterloo – Robert Lee "R. L." Bates, 75, 3017 Owasco Dr., passed on to walk with his Lord Jesus, Tuesday (June 12, 2018) at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic, with his loving family by his side. Friends may call from 2 to 5pm on Sunday (June 17) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 12 pm on Monday (June 18) at the Faith Community Church, 90 Lewis St., Geneva, N.Y. Rev. Mark Ammerman, pastor of Faith Community Church in Geneva, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serven Fire Department, 352 US Rt 5&20, Waterloo, NY 13165. R. L. was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Harrison, Jr. and Blanche Trickler Bates. He was a graduate of Geneva High School. He owned and operated R. L. Bates Associates, Inc. since 1976 and ENVIROform recycled Products, Inc. R. L. was a volunteer life member of Serven Fire Department for 59 years and a former commissioner for the Border City Fire District for over 30 years. He was committed to his greatest passion, his family. He is survived by his wife, Julie Fillingham Bates; children, Robert (Karen) Bates, Karen (Dale) Andrews, Joe (Tammy) Bates, Bill (Jenny) Morlang, Mindy Aguilera, Laura (Zach) Cutlip, Grace (Rohit) Mirchandani; grandchildren, Starr Andrews, Dallas Andrews, Jacklyn Bates, Mason Bates, Jessica Bates, Jordan Bates, Garrett (Trudianne) Morlang, Jacob Morlang, Mindallia Bizardi, Cruz, Lilia and Julian Aguilera, Zoe Cutlip, Ronan, Logan and Emelia Mirchandani; great-grandchildren, Shepherd Morlang and yet to be born, Remington Bizardi Jensen; brothers, Harrison Bates, III, Daniel (Georgia) Bates, and Paul (Dolly) Bates; and many nieces and nephews; special friend, Gordy Clough.
