Obituary of Philip James Cavali

WATERLOO/JUNIUS – Philip J. Cavali, 79, of 937 Birdsey Road, died Saturday (November 12, 2016) at the House of John, in Clifton Springs. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (November 16) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, in Waterloo. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday (November 17) at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Francis and St. Clare Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY, 13165 or House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY, 14432. Philip was born April 4, 1937, in Auburn, the son of Madeline DeMetro Cavali. He was employed with West End Brewing Company in Utica for 25 years, then worked at Owasco Beverage, retiring in 1999. Phil was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of Finger Lakes Moose Lodge and Sons of Italy in Geneva. He was also a member of Waterloo Sportsmans' Club. He is survived by sons Philip J. Cavali, Jr. of Sherrillsford, N.C. and Steven (Ellen) Cavali, of Waterloo; grandson, Philip J. Cavali, III, of Ocala, Fla.; step grandchildren, Michael Smith, of Seneca Falls and Sarah Smith, of Waterloo; great-grandsons Blake Smith and Andre Kerns; brother, John (Esther) Cavali, of Waterloo.
