Obituary of James Maybee

Romulus - James E. Maybee, 84, of Romulus, died Sunday (February 21, 2016) at Geneva General Hospital in Geneva, with his loving family by his side.
Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 25) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday (Feb. 26) at the funeral home. Rev. Barry Somerville, pastor of Finger Lakes Baptist Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Ovid Union Cemetery in Ovid.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Finger Lakes Baptist Church, 1000 Yale Station Rd., Geneva, NY, 14456.
Jim was born April 23, 1931 in Hammondsport, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Brush Maybee. He began working as a carpenter for Sampson State School, then left Sampson to work at Willard Psychiatric Hospital, until the hospital closed. He continued his career as a carpenter at Elmira Psychiatric Hospital, until he retired. Jim was a member of Finger Lakes Baptist Church. While attending Waterloo Baptist Church and then Seneca Community Church he taught Sunday school for both churches. He had been a scout leader and also a leader for 4-H.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Maybee; daughters, Sandra (Bruce) Cooley and Linda (Ronald) Shafer both of Romulus and Brenda (Anthony) Lepki of Phelps; grandchildren, Becky (Chris) Colizzi, Josh Cooley, Zach (Caitlin) Cooley, Chris Maybee, Felicia Maybee, Deanna Maybee, Brooke Maybee, Brandon Maybee, Timothy (Chelsea) Shafer, Douglas (Cassie) Shafer, Lucas Shafer, Jennifer Consolie, Jeffrey (Jessica) Consolie, and Robert Consolie; eight great-grandchildren; brother, George Maybee of Dryden; sister, Georgia Brown of Groton; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his son, Michael Maybee; and two brothers, Edward and Larry Maybee.
