Waterloo - Robert Edward Denhoff, 85, of 1790 County House Rd., died Monday (March 9, 2015) at Geneva General Hospital in Geneva.
Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday (March 20) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday (March 21) at the funeral home. Rev. Laura Calos, pastor of Waterloo United Methodist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to organization of one's choice.
Robert was born April 27, 1929, in Coudersport, PA, the son of Levi E. and Inez Baker Denhoff. Bob moved to the Finger Lakes Area at the age of 19 from Pennsylvania. Initially, he worked at Sylvania in Seneca Falls. Later, Bob worked for Ludovico Construction, then worked for many years for Paul Whittaker Construction in Waterloo. In later years, Bob became a counselor at the VanDyke Treatment Center in Willard, retiring in 1997. He will be missed by many, especially neighbors from the County House Road and Route 96 neighborhood. In addition, Bob became like a father figure to several young men and their families, making a great impact on their lives. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara S. Meal Denhoff; son, Robert E. (Tricia) Denhoff of Penfield; daughters, Robin (Joseph) Graham of Woodbridge, VA and Terry (Phil) Steinruck of Romulus; step-son, Mark Meal of Auburn; six grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Sexton of Lockport, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Madeline Lynch Denhoff; brother, Richard Denhoff; and step-daughter, Mary Jane Meal.
