Waterloo - Carol Lee Bond Harris, 62, 1309 Yellow Tavern Rd., went to be with her Lord on Saturday (September 6, 2014) at her home. A private graveside service will be in Union Cemetery in Ovid. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL., 32256 or Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY, 13165. Carol was born Sept. 29, 1951, in Geneva, the daughter of the late Miles and Mary Ellen Carpenter Bond. She was a 1969 graduate of Ovid Central School, and went on to study music at Ithaca College. She had a lovely singing voice and was asked to perform several solos both in high school and college. Carol Lee was a kind, giving person who loved the Lord and dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She enthusiastically home schooled her two children, Audra and Bret, as well as helping many others with their plans to home school. She served as a Seneca County 4-H Leader for several years, having a significant part in raising several children in the community then and as day-time caregiver. Carol was an excellent seamstress who created countless outfits and several elaborate gowns of her own design for her daughter and others. Carol Lee was active in educating people in the areas of animal abuse and rescue, and tirelessly worked to foster the public's awareness of and obligation to staying current on the government and political situations in our community and nation, as well as the need to support our troops, wounded warriors and their families. These things were dear to her heart. She was an accomplished writer, an occasional contributor to "Letters too the Editor" in the Finger Lakes Times, and edited a book written by her brother, John, which she saw through to its publication for him, posthumously. Carol Lee is survived by her husband of 39 years, Allen B. Harris; daughter, Audra (Ted) Brown of Rose; son, Bret (Leslie Dilts) Harris of Waterloo; granddaughter, Olivia Bacon of Rose; sisters, Cynde Hammond of Ovid and Sande (Allan) Smith of Interlaken; half-sisters; a half-brother, nieces, a nephew, a great nephew, several cousins, and all who will miss her. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
