Waterloo - Leonard Edward Walters, 71, of 408 Railroad Ave., died Wednesday (June 18, 2014) at his home.
Friends may call 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday (June 22) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. Military rites will be 1 p.m. Sunday (June 22) at the funeral home by members of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion. The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. (June 22) at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W., 29 W. Elisha St., Waterloo, 13165; Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion, 7 E. Williams St., Waterloo, 13165; or Lifetime Care Hospice, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623-9915.
Eddie was born August 16, 1942 in Waterloo, the son of William C. and Mildred Chrysler Walters. He was a 1961 graduate of Waterloo High School. Eddie served his country in the U. S. Army. He retired from Conley Construction after 20 years of employment. Eddie then was employed by the Village of Waterloo as a groundskeeper for Maple Grove Cemetery. He trained and showed horses and was a member of the Northern Finger Lakes Saddle Club. He was a member of the Men's Senior Golf League, on Wednesdays, at Big Oak. He was a longtime member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. Men's Auxiliary and Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion.
Eddie is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Edward) Neumire of Ovid; grandsons, Michael (Shelia Stuck) Walters of Wake Forest, N.C., Blaze Schlock of Ovid, and Kevin Walters of Hilton; granddaughter, Cassandra Walters of Hilton; brother, Billy (Dorothy) Walters of Waterloo; sister, Dee Dee (Don Cook) Connors of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews; his former wife, Carol Langan of Waterloo.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Walters; son, Edward Walters, sister, Katie Foster; and nephew, Kerry Foster.
